A place I used to like is becoming a Youngs. Which sounds bloody horrible - I am imagining a 'spoons.

Are they in fact alright or a cheesy low-cost boozer with microwave food?

Never like them, IMHO it appears most food comes out of a packet/sachet and is pretty mediocre.

By choice I avoid them always.

Are there any chain pubs that aren't like that? :-)

Looking on the Young's website it looks like they are going for a gastropub theme, for good or ill.

There is one near me in Cambridge - the Station Tavern. Low cost it is not.

It's actually a decent enough place. The food is OK, for a chain pub.

Youngs beer, great. Rather have a Youngs pub than a grim king which is what I've got
