I am due to leave tomorrow morning for a 2,500 mile eurotrip in my 2006 DB9 Volante.

The lest 3 times that I drove the car (about a month apart) I got the "Emissions system service due" yellow message. I reset it each time using my code reader. One time the car temporarily went into a reduced power mode, which then ended when I reset the fault code.

I can take another car if needed. What would you do??

Resetting the code doesn't fix the underlying problem sadly. It could be a faulty sensor or something larger. Have you had the car checked out?

I wouldn't risk it personally.

I think to a great extent it depends on the other car...

Remember - you're still going to look good standing by a broken-down Aston smile

I'd take the Aston, unless the other car is just as good.

Stupidy, I have just relied on the many threads about the Emissions service light that minimise the problem "they all do that sir".

Many threads point to one of the O2 sensors as the likely culprit. I could see if the AM dealer on my route to Dover might change the O2 sensor while I wait?

Damn, that makes the choice a lot more difficult!

Good luck - and enjoy whichever you take. smile

What was the actual Pcode that was causing the message?

This. Make a call and see if they can do it en route. Even if it is only a sensor - it's putting the car into a restricted mode.

P2195
O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Lean - Bank 1, Sensor 1

And possibly P0154 on the non AM specific system.

I was hoping that a long european trip might help!

Sensor is easy to change by any garage, no more than hours labour. Try Astonmartinbits.com or even ebay for a sensor.

Or it might be a tell tale that there is oil in the breather circuit which could be disastrous.

I suspect this is your problem. I have had this on a couple of Astons, both times it was after a long period (more than a couple of weeks) without using the car, and both times it never came back. By all means get it checked out for peace of mind, you don't want to get stranded, but I think lack of use might be the culprit.
