Best place to sell these days

As per the title really.

I would like to avoid the time wasters, tyre kickers and best price 2day bruv types - seeing as the car in question is a Golf R I can imagine it could be a chore to sell.

My first thought was of course PH however a mate has had his for sale in the classifieds for a few weeks now with no bites.

I’ve had bad luck selling through eBay before, with time wasters galore!

I’m thinking my best bet is going to be autotrader...

Any other thoughts or ideas for pain free car selling?

WBAC and Evans Halshaw have made quite low offers and that’s before they pick the car apart and knock money off (or perhaps they wouldn’t?)

When selling you are going to get messers & chancers it's a fact when selling, I deal with it by saying I'm happy negotiate once they've viewed the car as it tends to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Take lots of photos with a clear & honest description price it accordingly to the market, at the moment I'm seeing clients move their cars on in a 4-8 week period but they're mainly high spec versions, your more basic versions are taking longer to move on as the used market is now more spec driven.

AutoTrader is your best bet.

Get the photos and detailed description right particularly with regard to condition specific service history and price the car competitively and it should sell particularly if good spec and 1 owner.

Currently have a Fiesta ST3 on Facebook, Auto trader and Ebay.

Ebay I have had the most messages interest so far.

Last car I sold I sold via facebook.

I don't think anywhere is a "go to" these days sadly but DONT do gumtree you just get spammed by every accident company in the world. Avoid it like the plague

I'd say AT is still the biggest and so the best for most. If you have something special, a PH type car, then PH is a good place. Also try the OC pages on Facebook. eBay is probably the second largest so use that too, I've sold quite a few from there without any issue.

I posted on eBay twice and got nothing, not even a sniff (but still charged £20..).

Posted on Gumtree for more than I put on eBay and a fella a few doors up from me saw it and had my arm off.

I've never used auto trader because I'm a cheap skate.

In the end I went to Evans Halshaw for a full valuation and they ended up paying as near as damn it the price they quoted online.

I went down this route because the thought of spending potentially weeks being messed around just didn’t appeal. Perhaps I could’ve had a pleasant selling experience this time, but never mind, it’s done now.

Evans Halshaw were a pleasure to deal with overall.

Exactly what I did. Were a pleasure for me too - paid more than I was advertising it for on AT and didn't haggle down the price.

I sold my 2018 Cooper S through facebook marketplace.

Had a fair few enquiries that didnt go anywhere but the lady who bought it communicated entirely through facebook chat (no phone calls at all) before coming out and buying it.

I'd also it on Autotrader and gumtree for the same price and neither yielded ANY calls or messages (timewasters or otherwise)

I don't know if there is a dedicated forum or media group for a Golf R, but if there is I'd start there. I had no problem selling a BMW Z4 on the z4forum.

But then I didn't have any issues selling a 123d and a 325i on AutoTrader, although I can see a Golf R might attract the wrong sort of interest!

I used Gumtree for a £600 Mazda a while ago and that worked well too - it didn't seem worth the cost of using A/T.

I’ve just sold my 2008 535d sport touring via eBay classified ads.
Listed it Saturday afternoon, took a deposit on it Sunday morning, was collected Tuesday evening. Had a lot of calls for it though.
