This might be difficult for £2k, unless some of the requirements are relaxed.

Civic 2.2 diesel. I think the Type S ones come with some sort of sporty bodykit, and there should be loads around for £3k or below.

Does it have to be manual? Some of the auto boxes now are excellent and often far better.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Mercedes could fit the bill, just finding a manual one close to home is the only thing!
I'd say look for an Auto it's reliable & robust so I'd actually go for one of those over the manual.

My 1st BMW was a facelift manual 320td I bought in 2005, so it fitted most of the criteria - although most people didn't think they looked particularly stylish. laugh

I replaced it with a 57 plate manual 123d in 2008 that was a great car, but then I started reading horror stories about the N47 engine cam-chains so I sold it in 2014 on 81K miles as I wasn't doing enough miles to justify a diesel.

For your criteria I'd be looking for a good pre-facelift 120d with the M47 engine with no DPF and 163 bhp - then maybe a sneaky re-map!

Good luck anyway. thumbup

Two grand cars are an utter lottery mate, especially if you are using it for 60 miles a day. Find something that has 1 or 2 owners, full history and in good condition, ideally from a private buyer who appears straight up and doesn’t need to be shifting a lemon.
