I’m looking to save some money and I’m in the market for a double shed budget frugal car for my 60mile per day commute.

There is one of these local, very well looked after...

Am I right in thinking this is more or less the old trusty 1.9tdi with a cylinder chopped off? Is it a decent engine? And are the Fabia’s Of this vintage any good?

Thanks

The 1.4tdi is the 1.9 with a cylinder missing, had an Ibiza with the same engine. Wonderful thing but very agricultural on cold start with three cylinders. Try and get pre 08 I think it was as these don’t have a dpf and the PD engines never ran well with the dpf added.

Also make sure many oil changes with the right grade oil.

I'd say take a look for the 1.9d in the Fiat or Alfa these are great on fuel also the longer gearing compared to the Skoda will help with fuel.
