This will the the first time I've posted a car of mine after a hatchback heavy history:

1989 Austin Metro City
1990 Austin Metro Sport
1991 Rover Mini Cooper
2007 Honda Civic Type S FN1
2004 Honda Civic Type R EP3
2000 Mazda MX-5 NB
2006 Mini Cooper S
2015 Ford Fiesta 1.0 125PS
2007 Ford Fiesta ST150

The first Type R was written off by a lorry when I left it parked sometime in 2014, but happily it lives on in the family as a track slag:

I truly loved my Cosmic EP3 as a daily. Anyone who has driven a naturally aspirated Type R or S2000 will hopefully agree that the fuss is justified. So lately when I found myself lusting particularly hard after something K20(A2) powered I found a gem in the classifieds and arranged to view.

So after doing my best to play it cool a couple of days ago (and knocking the asking price a little) I picked up the new object of my affection. She is a 55 reg Premier edition EP3 in the famously squidgy Nighthawk Black metallic, sitting at under 40k miles. These are the few pictures I have taken so far and a few from the original ad:

(there's a joke there somewhere..)

I'm the third owner. The chap I bought it from has had it for three years, during which he went to some expense getting the car cosmetically up to standard (bonnet & bumper respray, new genuine badges all round, roof rails, wheel refurb) and detailed/ceramic coated back in 2016, all supported by receipts.

Otherwise the car is totally standard, even up to having the correct Bridgestone RE050 tyres fitted! cloud9

The service history book is complete but is a mix of Indy/Honda with some fluid and filter changes etc done by owner #2. My first purchase has been 5L of 5-40 fully synthetic as all VTEC owners know that is very much a regular consumable...

As for future jobs, some exploratory poking around is needed especially as the OEM wheel arch liners are still present in the rear which can be a rain sponge and rust magnet. Otherwise, some minor ICE upgrades - android auto double DIN? Racing brake fluid and a front pad upgrade are probable, but I'll take it easy on the mods for the forseeable. I really want it to look standard!

Hope you enjoyed the read.

That looks like s cracking example, not many left like that.

Personally, I’d leave it as intended but that’s just me

I agree & like to think I have the purest intentions.. now to find some contradictory balance between use/fun/keeping the mileage down!

Pretty sure the EP3 came with RE040s but either way more grip is available smile

I wouldn’t bother too much about the miles, enjoy the car without worrying about the figure on the dash rising.

Your civic is very similar to our Mk5 R32 in that it’s completely original, with fantastic provenance the only difference is our car has 117k on it. My wife frets about the miles going up whereas we have no intention on selling it so I don’t see what the issue is. Enjoy it, life is to short to be concerned about frivolous things.

These look much better than they ever did!

Good to see it staying OEM. They’re at that age now IMO.

Thanks all for the comments. I hope I still have it at 117k, just that it's a long time from now! laugh
