2007 Golf GT Sport 170BHP
Discussion
Hi All,
Got a 2007 Golf GT Sport that's done 215,000 miles. Great car, had it nearly 6 years and put 100,000 miles on it myself.
This weekend on three occasions, it has started to play up. Just driving along and the engine all of a sudden starts to cough and splutter and loose power. Also starts to emit black smoke. Only way to clear it appears to floor it, smoke gets much worse and cars behind disappear in the cloud. Engine eventually clears and then drives fine although does smell of diesel for a bit.
I understand there is some kind of valve or butterfly system in the inlet manifold on these engines. There is an actuator near the front of the engine that operates this. There has been evidence of an oily residue being emitted from here recently that the garage commented is wear in the manifold and this is common.
Does anyone thing this could be getting stuck and this could be causing my problem?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
If it is these valves getting stuck, is a new manifold required?
Would appreciate any feedback on this please. Need to resolve it this week as going on holiday next week.
Apart from this, car has been regularly serviced and not missed a beat.
Regards
