I bought a 2018 420D in Jan this year from a BMW dealer. They tried to sell me all sorts of things but I resisted; they didnt mention anything about Connected Drive (I thought it came part of the car warranty).
7 months on I have received an email stating the Connected Drive on my car is about to expire!

I am all confused. Did the dealer just throw in a few months subscription? Hell I didnt even know what was included in it apart from the remote control aspects.

Anyway, I am tempted to let it lapse. What will I lose? Should I reneew it?

its worth contacting BMW about it. I bought mine when it was just over 2 years old and when it was about to run out I said I didn't really have time to evaluate if I wanted/needed it as I'd not had the car long and they gave me a free 12 month extension. I only used it to send map locations from the laptop, that was really useful but I nav er used any of the other bits

Sounds like you’ve got residual of the previous owners subscription. Might be worth a call to see if the dealer can sort a subscription out but I’d imagine that boat had sailed.

I'm sure the original subscription is valid for the duration of the intial 3 year warranty period, and from then on it's an annual fee to continue it. It must have been transferred to you otherwise you wouldn't have got the email?
My F15 was registered in spring 2017 and my Connected drive is still working?

It's activatyed at the factory when the car is built and valid for 39 months, this is to allow a reasonable time for the car to be delivered to a dealer and then sold (if not a factory order).
This is what I was told when mine expired 27 months after registration but 39 months after build.
The s that sold me it as a brand new car never told me it had been in the dealer network for 12 months.
