Flashing glow plug light when Stop start

Hi I’m an owner of VW Tiguan 2012 2litre TDI. The other day as I parked up the Stop Start function activated and the engine turned off followed by the glow plug light flashing and message, to restart turn the ignition key. When I restarted the only warning light appearing was the cat light which now stays on. Has anybody an idea what is amiss please? Thanks

Being a VW that means 'death mode' whereby maximum pollutants are chucked out into the air from the Death Pipe at the rear.

Apparently it's caused a bit of an issue with litigation in the States.

I had this fault come up on my car today. I’ve got a VW Tiguan 2.0 TDi 63 plate.

I’d pulled up and the car would’ve gone into stop/start mode, only the glow plug light came on with the error saying to turn the ignition to restart. When I restarted the car the glow plug light went off and no other warning lights were on.

What was the issue with yours in the end?

I won’t be able to take it to a mechanic to look at it until Wednesday and have to do a long-ish drive before then. Do you think it’ll be ok?
