Got the builders in!
Discussion
After two and a half years of design, planning and strutural calculations the builders have arrived today to start work.
An extension with a glazed lantern roof that should result in a nice big kitchen with plenty of space at the other end for a couple of sofas and a Plasma.
Can't wait to pop home at lunchtime to see the hole they've dug!

Tonker, don't know if you've considered this but you can apply manifestation to the glass at quite a reasonable cost (less than £50 if you're handy with soap suds and a squeegy).
There's loads of different shades available and it will reduce the intensity of the light, and therefore heat build up, in your conservatory. The added benefit is that you won't be working your AC system so hard.

Have you not used builders before.
After a few cups of tea and sandwiches, they might have found the shovel by lunchtime!!
lol
With regards to the lantern roof we have opted for toughened K with an antisun coating.
Also 4 electrically opening rooflights with a climate control module so they open and shut automatically according to the temperature.
