Maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago I was under my car trying to shift some exhaust nuts. My arms were over my head while lying on my back IYSWIM, trying a breaker bar, but they wouldn't shift. I seem to have strained something, as even now I get quite sharp pains lifting my arms over my head or doing any lifting (not even heavy) over shoulder height.

I'm 55... is this just normal time to recover from a muscle strain? I'm also doing keto so not sure if I may have some vitamin/mineral deficiency which might be contributing.

Maybe damaged the rotator cuff ? If so can take ages to sort out.

You need to be quite a lot more specific about where the pain is to have any hope of working out what it might be or how to help it.

You may want to consider seeking some professional help if it is concerning you though, the longer you leave it the more likely you are to start compensating and potentially causing more issues.

Thanks. It’s actually in the muscle, nowhere near a joint. When you flex your bicep - that bit, and round the back.

It just occurred to me that it could be (a) I've just strained it all working on the car and (b) statins. Which I'm off for a 3 month trial to see if my weight loss has also dropped my cholesterol stuff

Saw the doc yesterday, that was indeed the diagnosis! Referred to physio, keep taking the Ibuprofen...
