Is this Puma/Car rust an MOT Fail?

As the title states really.

Do rusted sills (or partially) fail MOTs? It has the typical rust spots on the arches.

Looking at that it doesn't look like a fail.

But how soft is the rust, can it be pushed through with light finger pressure? What about the inner sill area? Especially the rear end into the wheel arch.

If it's within 12" of suspension or seat belt mounts it's a fail if its perforated.

Does it currently have an MOT and what's the MOT history like. It's potentially been highlighted in previous MOTs. Unless you've had a good crawl underneath then this is the rust you can see.

It has one month remaining. Only advisories on the last MOT;

Nearside Rear Brake hose slightly damaged (1.1.12 (b) (i))
Offside Rear Brake hose slightly damaged (1.1.12 (b) (i)).

No mention of any corrosion in the MOTs and it currently has 80k miles

You can MOT the car within a month and end up with 13 months MOT. Its a potentially expensive gamble with an MOT about to expire. Will the seller entertain an offer to purchase based on it being freshly MOT'd?

Yeah it is a bit of a gamble isn't it. I got the price down to 250 based on them not MOT'ing it. Worth the risk you think? It's only a 1.4 though.

Will they let you do a pre-MOT somewhere local? It's so easy to end up with a big MOT bill. Guess depends on your attitude to risk

In all honesty until you'd asked about Pumas last week I hadn't realised there were so many interesting little (or large) cars around at this kind of money. Last time I properly looked was back in 2009 when the scrappage scheme wiped much of the less expensive cars away.

If that is genuinely the worst rust then it looks ok.

But its the rust on the inner sills behind that you need to check/look at/feel
