Sure this has been done to death.... but equally sure someone will know the answer straight away wink About a year into C4S ownership, needs a top up. Looks like 1L Mobil 1 0-40 will do the trick? Off on a trip to Cote D'Azur, it's being serviced upon return so just want to make it's got the right stuff in it. Presume filler is obvious out back?

Do you know what is in it now? That is what you should add.

Some owners have moved to 05-40W or even 10-40W for older (15 years?) cars not in warranty and to an ester based oil rather than straight synthetic.

I have use Fuchs Pro S 05-50W for some years in a 986 and 996. Millers do one too.

Also, some would have the service before they set off on such a great journey. Enjoy your holiday.

Yeah it had 0-40 at last service, which was only 3k miles / 11months ago, hence planning service upon return in a months time. Interested in the potential of changing grades to account for 107k mileage...

This is the advice that I received this morning from Opie

"Hi John

These all meet the Porsche spec.

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-913-porsche-a40-engin...

To be honest, I'd probably stick with the Mobil while it's under warranty, in case there was an issue they can't try to blame the oil then. After warranty, I would forget the Porsche specs and go for an ester based 5w-40, but until then, the Mobil is a good option.

Regards"

I'm not warrantied, so I'll speak to specialists & look into this option when it goes for service...

Millers Nanotech 10w50.

Just the ticket for older 996 and 997 cars, as recommend by Hartech.

More expensive than liquid gold, but what price your engjne....

Porsche spec Mobil is really thin and makes no allowances for older engines. An oil for a brand new 'tight as a drum' performance engine cannot be the same as an oil for a 15-20yr old higher mileage engine.
