Triumph Daytona Moto2

Can't see a thread on this.... thoughts?

Bit underwhelming and not much of a departure from the tried and trusted 675 platform from appearances. I'm sure it's a healthy upgrade, but doesn't set the pulse racing like I thought it might.

I mean I like it I do but it's pretty much the same as the last 675, whilst not as nice as the original 675.
I'd buy one but not for £16k. God no.
Yep, it has two wheels with Pirelli Supercorsa SP, it is pretty much the same as previous version. I'd buy one but not for £16k. God no.

On, no, it probably has V3 not V2, s
te, even tires are not the same....Ho Lee Kau said:

I don't think anyone on forum likes a 675 more than me, I've two but this is 16k for a street triple r with a carbon fibre fairing on it.

Seat unit still looks too skinny, pointy & high - following someone on the last model or latest Street models and they look like they’re on a 125. Quite like the long exhaust as I’m no fan of those comedy tiny things that exit at 45’ from under the footpeg. That front mudguard reflector wotsit with nut & bolt straight through the middle of it looks like the afterthought it clearly was.
I think it is fairly priced for what it is.
How much was the 675R back then?
Maybe the frame and swingarm on the 765 are from 675, I don’t know. But the 675 chassis was already wonderful. Now it is in a beautiful polished finish.
765 engine has been modified.
All the electronics are there.
Proper Öhlins.
Stylema with adjustable MC.
Loads of carbon fiber. I bet it weighs 180kg wet.
I guess a lot of parts come from older Daytona and from Street Triple RS but time and money have been spent on this bike.
I dig the Union Jack whatever paint on it even.
I would LOVE to have this Daytona, just can’t afford it now. Would take it over anything, actually, the output is more than enough for me anyway.
I have the 2014 standard D675 and I keep it for now.
Looks, yes, the underseat exhaust version is beautiful, I especially like black with golden wheels. Maybe it looks better than the later model, I can’t decide, I like the looks of mine as well.
Damn I like Triumph, they just do everything right.

It's only about 10 bhp down on the moto 2 bike isn't it? Plus it's euro 4 compliant, surely wouldn't take a lot of effort to get the power equal? With such limited numbers and the moto 2 connection, surely it'll be a bike collectors dream.
They will sell all 765x2 in no time, I am sure.Currently it is only 2bhp over previous Daytona 675.
Importantly, the new Daytona has 20% more torque everywhere on the curve, 80nm total.
Exhaust is huge, take it off and you get your Moto2 power.

I reckon if you put the 675r and the 765 daytona on a rolling road there would be a lot more than 2hp in it. Currently it is only 2bhp over previous Daytona 675.

I'm going to don the flameproof suit here and say I agree with those that are a bit underwhelmed.
Technically, it has some clever tech but for me the simple fact is at that price point, based purely on ability, you may as well save yourself 2 grand + and buy a new GSXR1000.
So if it's not purely on ability, it's selling itself for being 'special'. And for me it's too visually bland. It may be special but it doesn't look particularly special. Initial impressions were much flatter than I expected them to be, coming from a Triumph fan..

It needs some after-purchase work, like brakes (Daytona has Stylema and adjustable MC), throttle response ( Speed and Street RS have very smooth on/off throttle response). If you want to GSXR1000R look better you will need to buy a better looking exhaust can. All this is extra outlay.
I would say then get S1000RR M-Paket. It probably is a bit more expensive than D765, but it has really everything, including cf wheels and lean-sensitive ABS.
Daytona has the cf body panels, which must be quite expensive. Getting similar on a S1000RR will be a grand extra at least.
I still think D765 is fairly priced, but I am a fan of Triumph and Daytona, so maybe a bit partial. :-)

The interesting thing is that I am too but I'm still a bit underwhelmed by this bike
I think I was thinking of it looking more 'special' along the lines of the Norton Superlight. Yes the Norton is another 5 grand but that is 100% hand made etc.. In fact if this Moto2 homage looked more like a Moto2, it would be a big step forward. This looks too compromised for a limited edition premium product.

I did not want to justify the 675R back then, it seemed very expensive to me, at least as a 600cc sportsbike for my purely street use, I bought standard D675 on discount in Germany.
I think D675R was already quite expensive.
D765R is limited edition and has more parts on it, plus updated 765 engine with more power and torque than ever.
I am not underwhelmed, I am out of means.
