Gumtree and Scammers

[Saleen836]

Listed a vehicle on Gumtree earlier today and had first scammer contact in less than an hour of the advert going live!
Usual rubbish...will pay full asking price, need it for my cousin asap, can't come see it in person as ill and in a wheelchair, but can pay straight away via Paypal and have a courier collect it for me

Guessing the scammers have nothing better to do than sit and scour for sale adverts looking for a victim

I had an accident management call within about 30s.

That was most likely who was calling me within a minute of the advert going live!
As I didn't know the number I didn't answer then blocked it

A nice automated telephone message tells me every third day that BT are going to disconnect my internet. Bless.

I’d had my number up on a gumtree ad, took it down after 5 minutes and 3 sales calls. Took the ad down a day or two later because of similar emails you’d had.

I’d previously tried using a phonesafe number like PH have but they pulled the ad! Gumtree’s dead now, it was great in the early days.
