Sounds like a Punto

The wife (who knows little of cars) has described the 996 as sounding "like a Fiat Punto", :eek: so its booked into JZM for a sports exhaust.

Have spoken with Steve, he says they do two options, Porsche and non-Porsche. Has anyone had an after market sports exhaust fitted at JZM? I love the sound of the Porsche one but £1200 supply only from OPC is pretty steep. :rotate:

If your car is still under an OPC warranty then go for the Porsche OEM Tequipment exhaust. I'm sure an independent will fit it for you too!

Go ahead and do it. Missus dropped me off at the station the other morning and as she drove away I realised just how good the car sounds!!

Having a 996 TT means I have to go 3rd party - Porsche don't do an exhaust for the TT.
If they did I would have it fitted tomorrow.
Have a hunt around, OPC pricing to fit the sports exhaust do differ from place to place.
When I had my C2 I found a brand new exhaust at a breakers for £600. My local specialist offered to fit it for £100 (with the valves fixed open not plumbed in)
A lot of the cost at an OPC is labour to fit the exhaust - last time I asked I was quoted 7 hours !!!!! Most of that time is the wiring in of the electrics so you can turn it off/on, if you dont want that then source an exhaust & get a specialist to fit it.

Mine is wired open and just sounds incredible!

Yes I did - when I had my Boxster S. Not been on there for ages now, I post on a few Porsche boards & sometimes on scoobynet, always under the Roshambo username.

800 - Mine was already fitted to the car when I got it (car was previously owned). It's what sold the car to me!! I don't think I could have a 911 (996) that didn't have one fitted now. I'd like to move up to a 996TT at some point in the next 18 months so would be looking for one with a sport exhaust fitted or would be looking to fit ( a non-OEM) one.

Roshambo - me too when I had my 2.5 and then my S. Occasionally lurk on there when I get the time but it's not as good as it used to be!!!
