Just Couldn't do it!
Discussion
I have had my Elise on sale for a couple of weeks on Autotrader and here, and a guy came to see it over the weekend and offered 9.5k which is not bad of a 68k 98 Elise, but I have looked after it very well and she is a beauty. I put her up for sale as I do less miles in her and I now do the commute to work in the ZT beast (a group of us are doing a car share to the new office 40 miles away). But I couldn't do it so a called the guy to say sorry it's not for sale any more. He was very understanding as it will be his second Elise. (very very sorry Mike!).
My question is how many miles a week/how many outings a week is enough to keep everything ship shepe? I have done 68000 trouble free miles and I want to keep it that way. I don't want the car to deteriorate through lack of use! The new plan is for the Elise to be a lifer!

Good news. My car is 7 years old now (I've had it from new) and I do around 2.5k a year (babies eh!). I like you didn't see the point in "only" getting £10k for a trinket which I love. I invested in a battery conditioner to stop the battery going flat and that's about it. <touching wood> Haven't had any unforseen probs yet, just treat it to the usual stuff - oil, cam belts, steering rack gaiters etc and things should be OK.
One thing to watch out for is I'm sure that P-Zeros develop a hard skin. After a month with no action I'm convinced that the understeer is pretty bad. 20 odd miles later everything's fine (could be the brain though).

Can't help with keeping it trim having never owned one, but would agree on the tyres going off comment:
I had the use of a rust-bucket of a weekend(ish) car a few years ago. The rubber was the one thing that needed constant attention due to lack of use (the rest of it also needed constant work, but that was due more due to the poor thing's age).
On a general note, I would just say to keep an eye on all levels - water, battery, engine oil, gearbox oil, break fluid, etc and all belt tensions.
If you're going to keep it forever then a full service history may not be a priority, but if it were me I would still try to keep up at least the C services, and probably the B services too, just for peace of mind.
