Anyone else found themselves eating out of season? Started off with roast shoulder lamb on the BGE on Saturday night which was lovely but had loads left over.

It's just been converted into shepherds pie which is not exactly summer fayre particularly when it's as hot as today.

Still chuffin tasty though.

I eat lettuce all year round because I have to, it pisses me right off when the shelves are bare in the Supermarket on hot days.
I've noticed Lambs hearts are no longer stocked and there isn't much salmon, possibly seasonal.
It does feel wrong to be having a roast 'meat n two veg' on a hot day, but I do enjoy one and need it for my diet.

I done me and the missus a big plate of mince n’ tatties last week. Even ate it under the parasol in the garden.

I hadn’t really thought about it being the wrong time to eat it, until I started cooking.

The Mrs made apple and blackberry crumble today. I’ve just polished off a bowl with custard and I’m sweating my tits off laugh

OP: I wouldn't eat 'you' at this time of year. Game season's not for at least another month. smile

laugh fatty! wink

At work, chef decided last week to startt cooking some very wintery dishes. It was 32c outside.
One day it was roast lamb with flageolet beans and spaetzle....FFS
Caterers managed 2 BBQs this year at work. It's been >30C for weeks on end!

rolleyes

This week it's down in the 20s centigrade

Today's menu:
beef roulade with Bourguignon sauce with carrots and pasta
boudin noire (giant black pudding) with mash & apple sauce
tukey steak with tarragon sauce, courgettes and Ebly wheat (think barley, but more st...)

I know, 1st world problems smile
I'm going for a run instead as it's not blisteringly hot, for a change!

We had a roast dinner on Saturday, then a BBQ on Sunday laugh

My kids love a roast dinner and had been asking for one for a while. We went to my sister-in-laws for dinner whilst on holiday last week and she did a roast chicken but it really wasn't great as she's not a good cook and therefore we felt we need closure on that abomination smile
