I'm dropping out of my company scheme, i'll do 15k a year, plan would be to keep it 3 before changing again.

I need an estate, tow bar is needed, also 45mpg on the motorway.

seem about right price wise? Its got some sensible options.

Personally I’d look for one with less miles, could be hard to move on in 3 years with 100k +, or only for peanuts.

From past experience keep the tow bar as a separate issue - its fairly unlikely you will find the car and spec you want with one fitted, price it up separately and allow for adding one in your budget. A genuine one fitted is circa up to £1000 and aftermarket detachable Brink or Witter etc anywhere from £400 to £600. Obviously from a warranty point of view a genuine one is better but not the end of the world. The factory folding ones are great but not easy to come by as mentioned!

Yes, I can’t work out of I should spend 2k more just so it’s easier to sell in 3 years time or if it all balances up anyway!

I see the tow bar as an instant £500 saving smile

Of the 2nd hand cars i bought, all have been very high mileage. I've had a Honda accord aerodeck, BMW 5 series (previous gen), C-Max, Fiesta Mk7, now 330d and all were above 100k (expect the 330d which was 75k). All diesel but then the recent diesel MOT changes might influence that nowadays but I've been careful (to a degree). Never had them inspected prior to purchase just me and my rules - even tire wear, interior which doesn't show the signs of high mileage, FSH, tight clutch and one owner.

Not one of them has caused me problems and no work done (well new radiator on the Honda but that was stone damage) over normal servicing.

I think it's an area of the market that most folk avoid due to horror stories about repair bills etc, but you can and do find bargains - just remember you got it cheap and will only sell it cheap.

As for yours? I reckon it's a 14-14.5 value, but then that's just on the age and mileage. do your due diligence and you could be a happy motorist

I have to say at this price point there are some options that are well worth considering with similar towing capacity & nice spec as well as power at a similar level to the car you're considering.
