Health check on trade in

Hi all has anyone had any experience of a car dealership / main dealer asking to perform a vehicle health check on a car you are trading in?. We traded another vehicle into another branch of this large group earlier this year and they never asked to perform these checks.
These checks were never mentioned until after we had negotiated the deal and after we shook hands. I am just wondering if it is a tactic to re negotiate the trade in price.
I am happy to have the checks done as i know the car has full service history and maintenence is never missed. Just getting a feeling that something is not right.

New one on me, they take on the risk when buying it from you.
If they do try to chip you down on the price you could always say that unfortunately it's a used car and fair wear and tear is just to be expected, see how they like that one coming back at them after all the times they've no doubt used it

The last dealer group I worked with did this. Granted if it was a non retail car, it was bid then punted off to auction but if it was something they'd potentially retail, the workshop were asked on occasion to do a 15min check to see if it was about to cost the sales department a pretty penny to get it to a standard where it could be retailed. To be fair to them, if the car was genuinely good they were strong bidders... if it was a moneypit in the making, they were less favourable but yes, I'm sure the profit margin on the replacement car mattered too but I always thought it was a fairly sensible move.

Where i worked we did this .... almost like an MOT in half an hour including diagnostic check .... then decided if we wanted it in PX. Funnily enough we never did it to the other stock that was being retailed and had come through auction. Zilch was done .....
quelle surprise...Had both,part ex'd a 13 year old 3 series and the check involved walking around I and then moving it back 5 feet and forward 5 feet.
Then my 3 year old keep was given a very thorough check on a ramp.
Guess it varies by dealer and what they plan to do, my BMW was going straight to auction. My Jeep was being sold by the dealer on their forecourt

Slightly off but on topic, does anyone get dubious when they see for example a Ford dealer selling a BMW? So a less prestigious brand selling a car from a more prestigious brand? I know I do. I think that there must be something wrong with it and they have thought I will go back to a less prestige more reliable car or something like that.
