Hi

I will be buying an Elsie as a second car, and Intend to do just 3- 4k per year in it. I currently have 10 years no claims bonus which I think I will be leaving on my day to day car. I have never had a second car and wondered if anyone can suggest companies that let you insure both cars under one policy / match your no claims on both cars / a cheap company that specialises in 2nd car insurance.

Hi, I've just gone through the same thing. I am insured with Norwich Union. They would give me a start of 5 years against the Elise as a second car. My main car has 9 years. I think you may find that most insurance companies will give you some deal if you mirror the policy on the second car. Just what I found, might be different in your circumstances.

Good luck, Andrew

Admiral will mirror a second policy, providing the first policy is with them.

A specialist broker such as Nowell & Richards (01785 255514) or Footman James should be able to get you an introductory/mirrored bonus on a second policy. I've recently gone this route myself.

I use Esteem, who offer a specific second-car policy for the Elise that doesn't require, or give, NCD. They need proof that the car is a second car, and that it is garaged, otherwise it's pretty straight forward. They'll even cover trackdays for a per-event charge.

I went through Adrian Flux; I had a policy with Link insurance. It was for 5k, second insurance only for the Lotus, it was 440 pounds. Best price I found.
