Yet Another eBay Query
Discussion
Simple question really, I bought an electronic item off an eBay shop brand new about 5 months ago. It's a proper shop with a high street premises not just someone trading from their garage. Said item has packed up after less than 4 months use intermittent fault at first, now it won't connect through wifi and is practically dead, all other devices work with the 12v cable and plug so it's definitely the unit at fault.
It came with a 12 month warranty. I emailed the manufacturer who told me it is the retailer responsible to offer to repair or replace. Ebay Retailer has told me it's the manufacturers responsibility.
Now if I bought it from a high street shop I'd be back at the shop with my receipt asking for a repair or replacement but given it's an eBay shop albeit with a high street presence who is responsible.

Seller is refusing to budge despite eBay, Paypal, Trading Standards all telling me that the seller is responsible to repair or replace if they are selling products with 12 month warranties.
Both eBay and Paypal have told me because it is just outside 180 days they can't do anything. Trading Standards have just told me to quote the Cosumer Rights Act and hope the seller changes tone.
Which to quote OFAH will be about as much use as a pair of sunglasses on a bloke with one ear.

How is your paypal funded? If it's by credit card you may have some joy going to them. Amex have helped me out in that situation previouslyBoth eBay and Paypal have told me because it is just outside 180 days they can't do anything. Have you tried the retailers Twitter account? I got money back from Avis car rental after complaining there having previously been declined.
Otherwise recorded delivery letter to their registered saying sort out or issuing claim in the County Court. It’s very easy to do online and they won’t want to defend it.
