Hello there to all you guys in the know....
Can anyone recommend a good water pump rebuild specialist ? its for my 120
I had one rebuilt (or so they said) it was done by one of the well known classic Jaguar parts suppliers in the North of England, cost £100 for the job, anyway i've used the car probably half a dozen times since and the car is still overheating, i've had everything else checked out to try and eliminate the problem, new radiator, new hoses, thermostat ect ect and still no good, so i can only assume its the water pump still causing the problem.
I'm down in Kent so someone nearby would be good, or any advice out there someone could give ?

I have no Jaguar experience, but I had two water pumps for my car rebuilt at a company called "EP Services", they advertise in Classic Motor Monthly and have been around for quite a few years. I'm only into the first few hundred miles of running the car it's on, but it's been fine so far.
Are you sure that you have the correct type of thermostat? The XK thermostat operates to divert the flow between the water jacket and a by-pass. It's easy to fit a thermostat that doesn't. Many thanks for your advice/help guys, the pump is quite new (rebuilt by David Manners) so i would'nt have thought its the pump, but i guess i need to take it off and have a good look at it, also the thermostat situation.....

If your waterways are clogged enough to be the source of overheating (and from what you describe then this is indeed a very strong possibility) then no proprietary "pour in" product will make the slightest difference. The best bet under such circumstances is to strip the engine and acid dip the block/head.
Its throwing the water out of the overflow pipe.....
I stripped it down this morning, took the radiator off but left the pump in place, as i said earlier the pump was replaced last year (David Manners)
I'm now thinking after inspecting the rad closely that that could be the problem, it seems very 'clogged up" with rust, i flushed it through but it does look pretty grotty,.
Think i'll get it either recored or buy a new one, so next question, new alluminium one or have the old one rebuilt ? also, who's best to buy an ali one from ? regards price and workmanship ..... maybe wait till i go to the revival in a couple of weeks, there's bound to be a few radiator specialists there selling ?
