Can a mistaken new registration be corrected?

I have had a new van on order since the early spring. It has been delayed and delayed and delayed then delayed again, and from when it was originally due in june last week I was told mid september. I got a call yesterday saying the van had just arrived unexpectedly and did I want it registered as a 19 plate or do I wait for a 69 plate but because of wltp (and probably some behind the scenes MAN/VW emissions cheating jiggery pokery andd a bit of risk to that process) it would need an IVA and it could be dealayed more months so I elected to register it now. I just received an email today after close of play to say its registered, but I have spotted they have registered it in my t/a company name rather than my own name like I asked. I am a sole trader not a ltd company so cant register it in the company name, plus from past experiences in other companies registering in the business name rather than an individiuals name increases the premium £300-£500.
Can this be corrected by the dvla without adding another keeper and if so how do I go about it?
I want it fixed properly as it isnt a lease, its an outright purchase and I plan to keep it for a long time so getting humped over the insurance every year will add up.

If you are a sole trader there is no entity which is the company; the company is you. So as the vehicle must be registered to an entity, the only thing it can be registered to is your name so they must correct the mistake.OldGermanHeaps said:

The dealer registered our last car in my name when it should have been in my wife's name.
The dealer got on to DVLA and they changed it over - took about 4 weeks though.

can you suggest where else to get a van of my spec at this price in a reasonable timeframe. for what i am after the only other contenders were the iveco, which are ste, and the 3.0 sprinter, which also have an unknown eta because of wltp.Afaik all the other high spec3. 5t vans arent offered with a big bhp/proper torqueconverter auto, the robotised manuals are terrible.

I had a leased van many years ago and the log book was in my sole trader trading name. Can't say I ever gave it a second thought at the time.
It was quite handy at the end of the lease as I liked the van and Ford let me buy it my name which struck me as strange at the time as they told me when I took out the lease it could only be bought by a third party.
I can't see how it can affect your insurance, as stated above you are the company so you personally are the registered keeper.

In my days of registering the DVLA would only do it if the registered keeper had died between signing the pre registration certificate and the actual registration.
My knowledge may be a little out of date now, but I would lay it back at the dealers door, they have to register it in the exact name of the insurance (e.g Mr Jeremy Bearimy or Mr Jeremy Bearimy T/A Bear Repairs) , you should also have been asked to sign a certificate confirming all the vehicle details, the name and address that the vehicle is to be registered in, they print this out when the number plate is attached to your vehicle (but before actual registration, this enables you to get the right insurance in place and them to get plates etc made up).
As i say, its been a while since i was on the registering side, so it may all have changed (i can't see it as they are good checks and balances for these reasons, but you never know!). But potentially they've forged your signature on that print out to get it taxed this month (to hit bonus) .
I wouldn't accept it without at least some hefty freebies for potentially adding a keeper.

As it's a 5t van it shouldn't be caught up with WLTP as they're all heavy duty as the reference mass means they're exempt from the changes for the moment.

Wow, you sure got out of bed the wrong side!OP, it is possible to change it. Once you receive the V5 take it back to the dealer. They will then write to DVLA saying it was their Admin error and it will be corrected for you. Will take a few weeks as you have to send it by snail mail but it's not impossible and happens all the time, I tend to get 2 or 3 a year where I work.
