about to replace the rear tyres on my tuscan, just wondering what are the best choice to go for. they will only be used for road driving. no track days.

I prefer Toyo Proxies personally as they give pretty progressive grip for the money. Each to their own of course..

Agreed toyos 245/40zr18 for a decent ride as well, 35`s to narrow IMHO

Toyos are good, but I have also been recommended the Goodyear GSD3s by Julian at Joospeed. Apparently, these tyres like to go in the direction they are pointed more than other tyres (not a very technical explanation from me!) so should be good for finding that extra bit of handling.

Just put the new Toyos Proxes (T1-Rs) on my other steed, and so far so good. So it will be a choice again between these two when the current Toyos eventually wear out (done 7,000 miles and loads of tread left - am I not trying hard enough???).

I second the Goodyear F1s, but I'm not sure about running them on the back with S03s on the front. Maybe not the best combination?

Toyo Proxes all round, the only choice as far as i'm concerned, but as was mentioned, 40 series a lot better ride than the 35's. TVR fit these from factory, 'nuff sed'.

People may hurl at this but i have been using the SPORTIVA Z40. Its a softer compound than 'named' brands.

Cost isnt an issue to me, but these are only £120 per corner including VAT. I cant fault them. And lets face it, they dont last very long no matter what you pay for them

The biggest problem i had was finding the right size combination, front to rear. After some research (I'm just popping to the shops, i'll be back in a couple of days....) i have settled for 255/40 rear and 235/40 front. Both are ZR18.

My theroy is that many of the tyres that fit Tuscan 18" rims are designed for heavier cars (BMW's etc.) and therefore are too hard for my needs.

I know a user of Toyo 888's who swears by them (they are also very soft) but i am not brave enough for semi-slicks.
