Hi all,

I'm sure this has probably been discussed before...but I'm unclear on this.

So the EU are saying that we must not have a hard border, so they cannot remove the back stop.

Both sides have said that they don't want to instigate customs and checks at the border.

So if we leave without a deal...and the British don't start doing border checks...it's up to the EU to decide whether they start doing border checks from their side.

How likely do we think it is that they will start doing checks? Or is it more likely that they'll start looking properly at other solutions and/or allow the border to be unmonitored until such solutions can be implemented?

It's really rather up to us to present satisfactory alternative arrangements. If we do that then happy days, everyone's a winner.
