Police were called in to stop a massive game of hide and seek at Ikea yesterday.
Officers rushed out to the branch of the furniture store in Braehead, Glasgow, after reports of people turning up to the shop and hiding in cupboards, fridges, and beds.
The bizarre story comes after more than 2,000 people signed up to a Facebook group set up to take the childhood game into the Swedish megastore.

Has that not being going on for years?

When I was late teens and stationed in Warrington an Ikea opened there. The challange was "go in late eve"; "hide"; "get a tray of cafe food as [tjock vaniljsås] proof". Ironically, it often took longer for you to get out the next day than hide, sleep on a bed / in a cupboard.

There was a Cinema near the dogs tracks at Belle Vue in Mancs that I think was new in the early 1990s. You were able to buy a ticket for a film and that got you through "the gate". We managed two days there once, constantley watching films and living off hot dogs and other cinema food. Whilst the cinema looked like a "Y" shape, screens 1 - 6 being left of the gate and 7- 12 being right of the gate, it was actually a loop and there was a very small door that connected the two ends so you could switch back and forth and if challenged claim to be lost and you should be in the other half the cinema (Keeping finger over date on ticket)..

Great use of resources, after a weekend of riots and throat slashings in Glasgow by another bunch of pricks, this is exactly what the local police needed to be dealing with, another bunch of pricks. Dipsts

Hmmm...Sectarian violence and civil unrest or a bit of subversion of a corporate retailer with a children’s game.

Which is more harmful and which would the police prefer to be involved in?

The fact you elude to it's frivolity completely illustrates the point.

Bellends organising stty stunts like this on soashal meeja for "likes" are utter cocksockets period, but when there is bad stuff going on in the area that is already stretching resources, it's irresponsible.
Of course both groups are cocksockets, as my first post noted. biggrin

My kids think it's hilarious to hide in the wardrobes. Yet another reason why I like to avoid that hell hole at all costs, the wife has other ideas... frown

I always though the idea of Ikea was to get out not stay in. The secret path of obscure doors to a quick exit is a worthy thing to learn.

I alluded to it, a sense of humour eludes you. Happy to help with your vocabulary, I can’t really help with your sense of humour.

There is a huge difference in level between the trouble caused by a social media stunt (love your attempt at “wit”) and the danger caused by sectarian violence. I lived in and around Glasgow in the 70’s and 80’s. I don’t miss the religious crap, although there are other elements of the city which I do miss.

Anyway life rolls on and I am sure someone else will rile you soon... all the best. smile

I wonder how long the Police took to find them all?

And if they did, were they declared the winners on Facebook?

- large number of people going to a park and hammering sausages into grass
- large number of people gathering in a town square/centre and throwing empty cans of red bull at each other.

One I'm aware of (apparently a domestic), so hardly an epidemic. One bad event can happen anywhere, but it doesn't stop people making some lazy generalisations apparently
