DB9.2 Sat Nav update (again - sorry) and USB limits
Discussion
Apologies if this has been covered before but I can’t see answers to my specific questions below.
My car has maps from 2014 – I don’t mind paying AM the £200+ for a new card (I’ll wait for the 2019 versions however) but I've read various posts here saying that I can just use the 'standard' Garmin update SD card rather than the AM branded version.
The Garmin site states that ‘Premium Content’ such as Lane Assist, Junction View and possibly some other things are not part of the 'standard' offering and are only available from the vehicle supplier.
So, do I lose any features by using the Standard Garmin offering and are there any actual benefits (other than cost) to doing so?
Is it possible to keep the speed camera database up to date (perhaps via the USB interface on the Garmin unit) or do you need to buy a new version?
Also, while on this subject two versions of the 2018 OEM maps appear to be available on the web:
CG43-10E898-AH-010-11605-A5 (~£60 – so about the same as the Garmin one)
CG43-10E898-AJ-010-11605-A6 (~£200)
They’re both advertised as 2018 maps and I’m guessing that the -06 version is just a bit newer but does anyone know if there are any other differences?
Re. the USB media input – Is there a maximum size USB stick that will work?
I’m planning on a 256GB version to store my MP3 music (formatted FAT32) – does anyone know if that may be a problem?
Sorry – loads of questions
TIA
