Hi,

We take delivery (very exciting) of our DB11 Volante next week but I am having a real issue finding ANY child car seat to fit. Does anyone have any experience with car seats or have any advice? Car seat suppliers say contact AM but AM wont suggest any. I have no clue!!

Thanks

I had a bmw seat I sold to a French chap, the thread is here:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17...

He said it did fit.

Bad news is those seats are no longer made by (someone) for bmw and I dont think theres anything else. Maybe he’s finished with it and you could get it off him? I could ask if you like.

Good luck.

We have a child seat (Britax) which can be either isofix or lap/diagonal seat belt secured.
It is not fitted in my AM (only two seats) but in a Mercedes coupe, which like the DB11 only has two shaped rear seats. Thick bath mats behind and below the child seat protects the leather.

Although it might fit, I would anticipate it not being at all easy to put a child in the seat. Even with the front seat back tipped forward and the front seat moved fully forward, there might not be enough room for an adult to stand in the rear seat footwell, to lift a child into the child seat and then put on the child seat harness.

Front or rear seat?

With the group 1 seat I just had to stick the car seat in the front of our DB9 Volante, but I'm hunting for a group 2/3 which will fit in the back. The best so far is a "chicco fold and go i-size highback" which I tried out the other day. It fit surprisingly well because the base is very narrow and the shoulder supports are flexible, the only drawback was that it was quite deep and sat a little too far forward, reducing legroom. I don't think the DB11 rear seats are massively different in size but the cabin is a little longer IIRC, so that might be a good bet.

The assistant in Mothercare said they often recommend a "Maxi Cosi RodiFix AirProtect" for cars with deep bucket seats, unfortunately I haven't yet been able to find somewhere to try one out. She also recommended I check the manufacturers website to see if my car is listed, I politely informed her that it wouldn't be.

I use this Volvo seat in the back of my DB9. The by far most narrow seat ive seen (and ive searched a lot).

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/buy/finance-sales/acc...
(The bottom one on the page)

Should be around 100-150 pounds.

In my previous search I’ve also heard rumors of a Porsche seat designed for the 911.

Best

That looks perfect. Do you have to buy from a Volvo dealership? I can't see an option to buy it online.

Thanks for this, it looks good, best one i've seen! Any idea of the dimensions? Width and depth? The top looks perfect but might be too big at the base?

It is 38cm wide and 42cm deep.

At closer inspection I realized that I have an older version of the seat so mine might be even more narrow (did the effort to walk out to the garage to measure it only to realize I accidentally left it in another car 100km away...)

In terms of online shopping it’s available here: https://www.swedishcaraccessories.co.uk/leather--n...
