I've noticed some paintwork bubbling on a 9 year old Audi A4. There is no evidence of paint chips or stone impacts, and while it is outside of the paintwork guarantee, it is well within the 12 year perforation guarantee. Has anyone had any success with going to Audi before there are actual holes in the bodywork? Would they offer a contribution to fixing the problem?

Interestingly a body shop owner I spoke to said it was common amongst older Audis and Mercs.

All I will say is good luck

You may find a dealer who will happily help.

Most will blame accident damage (have you checked using a paint depth gauge to ensure it's not had a previous repair?)

Or say it's "zinc inclusion" and is not from the "inside-out".

Just go to your dealer and see what they say.

Just had a small repair done on ours, it was just above the wing mirror mount so not even easy to see, no chips or anything to see what caused it anyway I think we went 70/30 split on the cost (we paid the 30).

Edit. similar age car as yours smile

Interesting, thank you. How did you go about putting a case together to get Audi to pay? Did you just go down to the local dealer?

Just popped in to our local dealer where we purchased the car from, just pointed it out had the usual of having to pop back when the body guy was in but he just just took some measurements with his meter and said he would get back in touch but did not see a problem and it would probably require a contribution from ourselves, all very friendly about it really.
