lights make inj's click !!

story so far.....all lights work, with the pods coming up on dip beam. Dash blue main light continuosly lit. Ignition on, flash lights and all the injectors can be heard clicking, just cannot find the fault. Took all weekend going thru the wiring, found nothing. Took stalk assy apart and cleaned everything, the main light was still on!! even when unplugged. Just driving me crazy.
Don't have a cure but my blue warning light also stays on when pods are up. I tried checking through earth connections (since the main beam is so candle-like.) In the end I connected a few earth wires to a common point. This seemed to improve the lights a bit and I noticed that the blue light now seemed brighter on main beam than on dipped beam.
It still stays on when dipped.
Perhaps there is a 'sparky' out there who can help.

OK, not much help here but many moons ago when I bought my 350, the diodes were the wrong way around causing odd main beam indications. Can't help with the rest.
Edited to add, Just rememberd I had a set of wiring diagrams (factory ones) thats how I sussed the main beam indication problem. Bugger me with a pitchfork!!!! forgot about them.......where the heck are they? Cobblers. Damn.......feck....girls......arse....drink........

Its OK. Miffed that I have just remembered that I have forgotten that I had them, if that makes any sense? Problem was solved by reversing them on me old car. The diagrams came with it when I bought it. Copies but served the purpose hence sorting the lights without major surgery.
Annoying or what, wonder where they are. Trip opp attic maybe?

The diodes are little black cylinders probably about 3mm dia and 5mm long tops, IIRC usually somewhere near the fuse box.
There's been a thread in the past month or so that gives RS part numbers for replacement diodes, but i cat find it, sorry.

Definitely sounds like an earth problem, Mark. As you say the injectors firing is a clue, as was the fact that the engine would die when you flashed the lights.
AFAIR all the earths from the front lights are soldered together to a large ring terminal that's bolted to the chassis to the left front of the engine bay. Obviously the battery also needs a good connection to the chassis AND the engine. I'm guessing that you've checked out the earths, but you could try something like a jump lead direct from the battery '-' to various earth points to see if that improves anything.

The diodes marked 'Main' and 'Dip' are connected to the appropriate fuses, so that when the headlights are switched on (either beam), a feed is provided via the diodes to the 'Control Relay'. The diodes themselves serve to isolate the Dip and Main beams from each other; if either diode went short-circuit then in theory, you could have both beams lit at the same time. However the amount of current taken by the bulb filaments would almost certainly blow the other diode as well!.
If both beams can be seen to light correctly, and the pods only raise in either Dip or Main position but not both, one of the diodes may have gone open-circuit

Secondly: No wonder Ted's servers are groaning under the strain, that image is
in' ENOURMOUS How about resizing it using some useful free software like this:

Or just knock the cmaera down a few notches on the resolution to 800 x 600 pixels when taking shots for the web. Ted's started automatically resizing images to page width anyway, (which is why it jumps from being a huge image with scroll bars to a smaller one when it finishes downloading), but it still has to go through his servers at full size from your website first.
