so i'm going to a used car dealership to buy my first car, when do i apply for insurance? as soon as i've payed for the car or just before I pay for the car? I;ve already checked how much the insurance would be.

pardon me for thinking way ahead but, if i was to sell my car in the future and buy a new one would I have to pay insurance deposit once again and everytime i get a new car?

thanks

(sorry if these questions seem a bit daft)

If you’re buying from a dealership take advantage of the 5 day drive away insurance, it’ll make the insurance cheaper if you start it in 5 days rather than on the day.

Buy the insurance as far in advance of the start date as you can. As said, you can save lots of money buying your insurance 2 or 3 weeks in advance of the start date.

Yes, but you might get charged an admin or cancellation fee. Within 14 days should be no problem at all.

My other half got a quote using the Martin Lewis 27 days ahead method, then went to look at the car. Liked it, bought it and rang the insurer and asked if they can start today, no problem at all.
