Drive to - track day car
Discussion
Whats a good comfy track day car that turns into an animal once there for 30k or less,
Needs air con, comfy seats, selectable suspension, manual ok but prefer 8sp zf or similar, 3-500hp depending on weight, no more than 1600kg really
Happy to stretch a little so a nissan GTR is possible, i know its heavier but it hides it well,
Duno, maybe go old school but anything older thats good on track will be too stiff to drive to the track for me i think otherwise id look at an e36/46 m3 probably
Ive only just started toying with the idea so not much thought given which is good in that im not set on anything in particular
Any Suggestions?

Comfy & Trackday car are not great bedfellows, I'd actually say you need two cars:
Track ready Megane RS265

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Sport-Megane-RS...
Then get yourself a nice sports saloon/coupe to take care of the comfort side of things.

Oh yea I forgot about those in which case you can drive the Megane's to the track & you'll have fun with them go for a Trophy/Cup S with the Ohlins dampers they're a more compliant set up, it does mean a manual box but it's better for it.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

E92 M3?Had a chimaera that was good on track, not too uncomfortable either but no AC and they’re a bit long in tooth now

Too much hassle, I just want to drive there have fun and cruise back in comfort
The Granturismo does the Jekyll and Hyde bit very well for the road, just the right balance, I want something in addition that tips the balance more toward track, that’s all..
Lotus just don’t do it for me I’m afraid, old esprit did but newer stuff I just don’t like
Maybe a 4.2 R8? On mag ride?
M2 any good on track? This has soft suspenders option doesn’t it?

Have you tried an Evora?
I will take a look though as love the idea of my preconceptions being changed
Noble always appealed though which is similar
Eta: bloody hell, 3.5 v6, 400hp and doesnt look bad, very noble esque, what do they ride like? Seats comfy? I’ll pop over to the lotus forum and dig around..

Not a bad shout, was there a selectable suspension option? Edited by Pvapour on Wednesday 4th September 07:18
Just that i saw this one on ebay but if thats a bad idea then 300hp in light car is ok if theyre light

For your budget, it would be an Evora without a doubt, any Evora, doens't have to be an S, it will still be quick and fun on track.
I used to always want a Noble, without a doubt one of the best cars I've driven, with the handling and the noise of the dump valves behind your ears, but they're now getting very expensive for a decent one, so an Evora has over taken that as my desirable car for a £30k budget.

They're not Elise-light, but they are a useful bit less than some of the obvious alternatives.Really liking their looks, strange ive never given them a look, duno why
I never really liked them in photos, but in person they seem much sleeker. Absolutely lovely to drive in every regard (though I'm not a track day person so can't comment on that front).

TTS?
Interesting, RS + is 20k with mag ride, guessing on track it’ll suffer understeer though compared to the evora, but ride home probably better, is the mag ride any good?Eta: chipped is 400hp, 1450kg, seems haldex is not brilliant on track tho, maybe it can be tuned...
