Not a over-reaction by the authorities at all.

Closing thecompletely unaffected carraigeway is a masterstroke of risk assessment and safety management .

I mean a lorry on an embankment on the other side is an accident waiting to happen.

Is that length of central reservation barrier missing intentionally?

Must be very tempting for those cars on the right to just quietly creep forward while no-one's looking whistle

Surely they should close the second crossing just to be safe.

Lorry hit the central reservation and then went down the embankment.

Shut in both directions due to central reservation missing.

Just stick a temporary 40 limit through that stretch and get on with it!

They should close the river. There's no saying what might happen if they don't.

Airspace! No fly zone up to 30,000ft, to be safe.

Isnt this the second crossing? they need to close the first one
Someone's probably rushing over with a new piece of armco and a bag of spanners
Either that or they'll wait till after 5pm to claim OT rates

Last time this happened I didn't get home till 9pm and left work at 5, it's normally a 30 - 40 min drive.

Sorry, I meant the second crossing after this one, which as you say is the first one but the second one in this context.
Anyway, surely the rail tunnel should be closed with all this danger above?

It's happened before? Demolish the bridge.

All of them. Severn. Dartford. Humber. Forth. They all look the same. Coming over here, crossing our estuaries.....

It's bound to take you a little longer if you plunge your lorry down an embankment.

Were you driving the same truck ?
