Can you help?

I am in the process of purchasing the above car at a steal however the only down side for me is the performance. Has anyone got any info on a good tuner he can get more spome more bhp out of the 2.5 V6 lump. The car is the 180bhp version, i would like to get it into the 200bhp bracket if possible.

Cheers

IIRC, the 2.5 V6 TDI is already running at close to its maximum power output. It's quite an old lump, and doesn't have the benefit of any of the fancy "Pumpe Deuse" gubbins that VAGs other diesel units have.

I believe it is possible, on the basis that the search papers for my A6 2.5 V6 TDi came back showing the engine to be a 150kW model (205 bhp) rather than 131kW (180 bhp). My car is an ex-German import so I have no idea where or how it was done. It does appear to be a little faster than a standard 2.5.

so there is no chance of getting performance to that of a 330d?

Problem solved. DMS can push 220 - 230bhp out of the engine for well under grand. Time to dig deep.

One final question, i am a little sceptical about the supposed power increases by simply re mapping the ECU. has anyone had any real life experiences?

I'd say a nice flat torque curve is more important than the max BHP at X,000 RPM. Make sure you get a dyno plot as part of the upgrade and you can't go wrong.

I must say I'm surprised at the potential being quoted though. It was my understanding that the 2.5 TDI was pretty unresponsive to tuning.

Upsolute also remap the 2.5 V6 and it is substantially less pricey than the 1k of DMS

My mate had his Allroad worked on by AMD and it went much better after ECU and gearbox tuning. Also fitted new suspension sensors to lower the car, stiffer anti-roll bars and Stop-tech brakes...

IT went much better than it was supposed to from the factory, although it's now been sold in favour of a 4.2 Allroad, with AMD tuning and Miltek exhaust - very nice cars indeed.

Hi there,

Sory this is off topic - only way I could work out a way to contact you. A while ago you recommended a body work repairer (Up North) to Girlracer who had an Elise with a cracked nose. I have the same problem...can you tell me who and where the repairer is?

Thanks in advance

With reference to remapping your 2.5 TDI Allroad, your previous answers from others seem that maybe they are talking about another vehicle on another planet.

My 2005 Allroad was specifictly remapped because I pull a twin axle, 1700Kg caravan. 3 years ago I had mine remapped by Quantum Tuning from 180bhp up to 230 bhp and the torque increased from 340 Nm up to 480Nm, pulls like a train, and in sports mode at the traffic lights I have a 2 ton rocket ship, not much keeps up with me.

I have also for the last 20 odd years used a product called "Activ8" a lubricant additive that reduced engine wear by 90% thus giving me an extra 3-5 mpg and also an extra 3-6 bhp due to the massive lack of friction, want to see just how good it is go on to Youtube and watch the video, amazing does not cover it.

The remap that I had done is only the medium one, they do a "tyre shredder" if you are brave enough, the 6 pot V6 is bullet proof so no worries about causing yourself a problem just make sure that you have regular oil changes with premium oil, hope this helps.
