I have a Chartered Surveying practice which has always generated a lot of work for Structural Engineers.
Around 6-8 years ago a long time acquaintance of mine wished to take partial retirement but could not agree terms with his partners so left that business.
In 2014 we formed a new business with the intention of developing a new Structural Engineering practice taking work from my Surveying practice plus other business.
Long story short we did not develop the business and instead he has worked alone and in the past couple of years an average of 3 days, although there could be much more work available he has been quite selective in what he will undertake.
He has now told me that he intends to stop work completely next Autumn.
I am reluctant to let this business wither partly owing to the income it generates and also as it integrates nicely with the surveying practice.
Our office is on Suffolk / Essex border but about 60% of the work is in London which requires sporadic visits there.
As a start the job full time could probably pay £50K upwards, but potential for much more with increased business etc.
We have exhausted our list of potential candidates & I am now wondering how to find someone. I am reluctant to use an agency in the first instance as I'm looking for someone with some business drive & know that most engineers are not that way inclined. As advertising in the old fashioned way seems to have had its day how do I find that person ??
Do I use social media, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. post on as many forums that I can think of ?
Thanks
