Is the used market for ‘classics and supercars’ in freefall?

all markets are "falling" due to brexit etc people simply spend less and hold on to their money.

the "unknown" is what's causing this.

Ok, not supercar, but not what I'm seeing with everyday stuff. I was looking at 530i/530d/540i up to about 1 year old. Mid July there was a choice of about 30 530i's priced at £28 to £30k, came back from holiday and practically all gone, ended up with a 540i in the end, hardship I know. All the main dealers with used cars seemed quite busy.

Hahaha do you think that Joe Bloggs is really sitting on his money and not replacing his car because of Brexit? Ludicrous.

Cars (or anything else for that matter) aren't going to gain or lose value because of Britain being in or out of the EU.

They aren't sitting on their money, but I do think people are holding off taking out new big finance deals.

The market is slowing. I've not even seen a 69 plate yet.

Any newish car is always going to lose money.

I think general used values are pretty solid but the Classic & Supercar market will naturally be more affected by stock market value.

McLaren's always loose money, infact they're probably the worse of any supercar for holding value.

weirdly i saw 3 69 plates yesterday on my 100mile drive. All Volvo's LUL (and no i don't live near a volvo dealership)

I'm not sure about exotic stuff, but as already mentioned, more mundane stuff seems really pricey to me in comparison to 12 months ago. I'm probably going to change the Giulia in March and been looking at replacements which will probably be German again and used 1 - 2 year old prices are very strong IMO. For example, take a look at previous shape C-klasse coupe prices - they are crazy for what they are I think. The older E-klasse coupe and LCI BMW 4 series prices are similar.

None of that is scientific - just my opinion.

With the pound dropping again, surely Secondhand UK cars (especially exotica) look more attractive thus keeping prices up a little too.

Brexit was always going to be great for exports remember!
