Afternoon all,

New to the brand, have test driven a couple and was originally looking towards the other end of the market 600LT or 720S but these IMO are a bargain at the moment.

Also anyone used the dealer before?

Thanks.

Car looks a good spec and in good condition.

Personally I prefer alcantara and not keen on white but that's just me

I'd also budget for a mclaren inspection and warranty on top

Are you viewing this car as a potential purchase or just kicking tyres ?

Not a bad spec but depending on your views the 570S Track Pack is the sweet spot in the range

Looks very nice but personally I would be pushing the boat out that little bit further and looking at a 2018 from a main Mac dealer with 2 year factory warranty still on board
They are an absolute bargain at the mo
Only regret I have with mine is that I didn’t spec the alcantara seat option

Its funny as Alcantara was the only option that i really didn't want and almost decided not go for the car i bought as it had full Alcantara.

I'm so happy i decided to have a look as i now would not consider a McLaren without; it sucks you into the seats like glue, its sooo comfy and absolute no dashboard glare or reflection.

Contrary to other reports steering wheel still looks brand new also.

You have a 570s?

I test drove a 600LT which was phenomenal but is that slight improvement in performance worth double the price? I'm not sure.

Also test drove a 720s but that didn't sound as good. It also conked out on the test drive and went into limp mode!

I've just taken the plunge and I agree with all of the points made by others.

Consider buying a newer car from a dealer. Just the cost of a warranty makes up the difference.
Track pack is great value used and the buckets and alcantara adds a little theatre to the interior.

Looks a nice car but 10k more gets you in to a 2018 car and 20k gets you in a delivery mileage 2019 car. If you factor in the warranty a brand new car doesn't actually cost that much more.

Test drove it and it was great. Sound was the only disappointment, I am coming from an R8 V10 Plus (I know it's not a super car!)

Think I will do what you all advise and stump up the extra £15k and get a 2018 from the main dealer with warranty.

My only remaining concern is if the thing will fit in my garage and allow me to open the door. On paper it looks fine (will be tight) but I just can't picture it. If there is anyone in the Southend area who fancies helping another forum member by seeing if it fits shoot me a pm.

I have spent hrs on doing maths for the garage as had same issue, I'll try to upload a sketch I did which ended up being absolutely correct and on the safe side.

When tried to convince my dealer to go to my place and try with the demo car he was not happy and put the excuse of time for test drive...

How wide is your entrance end to end? How wide is your garage wall to wall? With these two measurements I should be able to help.

I have all measures from McLaren brochure with car dimensions with and w/o single door open, etc.... biggrin

Said that, till the day I took delivery, I couldn't believe I would fit the car, it looks so wide, but it's smaller than what appears in our eyes wink

If you ever have a problem/need for dealer assistance, a McLaren dealer purchased car will undoubtedly be advantageous, especially if it’s your local dealer. I’d guess as well they’ll have various owner events you’ll get invited to as they’ll see you as a possible new car opportunity in the future & it’s the small things like that which would truly bridge the price gap. One day I might be able to afford one!

Thanks Mac 720s. 2.6m is the magic number with one door open (passengers can get out on the driveway!)

Would just feel better seeing one in there before I drop the cash though.

Width is not a problem it’s just there are two outcroppings right where the doors will be. I can’t open the doors in the R8 fully.

I will upload a picture later.

That's the opening, not a problem there, I had two bricks removed when I had the garage door installed to make it wider.

That's with the car in. The problem I think I have is that outcropping of bricks on the left about 1.5 metres in. I think the door is going to arc into them. It is all carpetted up so no worries of scratches or dents just if I will be able to open it!

Simple.

Just measure wall to outer brick, LT is 2.664 m with one door open, 570S should be almost the same. See what margin left you have to play with a safe parking. Btw you could get out of the car w/o door fully open.

I have also installed wall protector made od thick foamed plastic to protect the door (lower skirt is the outer parte of the door that would touch the wall) from scratches just in case....not needed so far.
