Sounds like a load of bks, especially this bit:

If they're in a public place then there's no issue, surely?

Great idea, I am always amazed at the stunts that park on the Zebra crossing outside my kids school. Quite often parents/gparents of kids that attend the very same school.

I suspect councils will just use it to cotton on to where cars are parked illegally (if they didn't already know) and just monitor it with their staff - otherwise they appear to be losing 50% of their income (which they cannot increase the fines by as they are fixed)

So does the council send someone out to confirm the violation as the public don't have the same training as a traffic warden?

School runs are going to get interesting. Match days, large events. Then there will be the inevitable youtube compilations, forum fights and so on, I expect a few of the usual suspect forums to get very shouty. Hope there is no escalation at hot spots.

Problem is many fold, this is not a solution to parking issues but as a group, motorists are not exactly helping themselves, but then parking charges now in the hand of privateers in a lot of cases, they just take the piss.

Sounds great.

People park like bellends around my area all the time. Sometimes fully on the pavement on both sides so anyone with a pram or wheelchair has no chance unless they go onto the road.

Even had a few local council car parks so full people just park outside the spaces, and make their own and end up blocking other people in.

Police are too busy to come out to assist, council say they can't afford to hire someone to deal with it on the streets so this seems the next best option in this circumstances.
