Suspect they have to activate your account as a Sky+ account. You also need a new LNB (receiver bit on the dish) that gives 2 feeds to the box, so you also need to run another cable from the dish to the box. This gives it the ability to receive 2 channels at once (e.g. record one, watch another).

No. You would need a third feed from the LNB, and an additional subscription (£10 / month) to view different channels via a second box.

Thats true, i tried to set mine up myself and found that the machine must be "setup" by an engineer, just a scheme to force you to hire an engineer to enable your box (for £60!). Apparently they dont like you setting it up yourself.

Because they have a monopoly on multi-channel digital TV and can do whatever they like, sadly.

Consider getting a GuidePlus compatible HDD recorder with a freeview reciever.
Advantages: No monthly Sky Tax payments.
Disadvantages: You can't watch/record two Sky channels at the same time. (But you can watch/record one Sky and one freeview channel)
In one year's time a HDD recorder will have paid for itself.
Remember also that Sky will be starting HD broadcasts next year, so all sky boxes will probably need upgrading to get the latest stuff. Shelling out now for Sky specific hardware is probably a bad deal.

Try ringing them up and getting them to run through all the sky+ options ie just buy box, sky+ with multiroom etc, then say thanks but its still out of my budget at the moment.
This is what I did and surprise surprise they had a couple of sky+ boxes knocking around that I could have for £99 + free instillation & no additional subscription. I did not take the multiroom option but do still have the original sky box.
The engineer has to run another cable to the sky dish from the new box as well as change something on the dish itself, if its free instillation easier to let them do it for nothing

Discovered that on the PS2 it will take upto an 80GB drive... although it is picky on which ones, as it is dependent on the exact location of the IDE connector.

*For easy install read: Take lid of box, unscrew HDD (thing that looks closest to thing I have just bought), remove ribbon cable/plugs, screww new HDD into position, replace ribbon cable/plugs?
