what's the best no-touch (and not too harsh) cleaner for pre-soaking alloys, brake callipers, the lower part of bodywork etc prior to foaming and jet spraying off ?

looking for something that can be bought in quantity as I do quite a lot of washing, and it's mainly as a preventative measure, to keep on top of cleaning rather than cleaning an ill cared for or overly dirty car

Does anyone have any home-made options that are tried and tested ?....... I want to do the equivalent of soaking the dishes..... as the foam just isn't powerful enough to tackle alloy wheel dirt/dust (on a black gloss wheel)

tried S100, Autoglym Clean-All, and Autoglym Motorcycle cleaner (this stuff seems fine, but it's too expensive for regular use)

any sugggestions much appreciated smile

Virosol diluted about 10:1 water:virosol is pretty good at shifting brake dust off alloys and pretty cheap. Readily available on eBay.

This also works a treat and depending on the dilution it has many applications.

Wear gloves though.

Look no further than Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel.

It is amongst the best, if not the best, as Donald Trump would say, wheel cleaners. Also available in 5L and 25L tubs.

thank you for your suggestion, I'll come back to this as an option, I actually bought the Virasol last week, but haven't had the chance to try it out yet

Buy cheap, buy twice. BH really deliver on their products and Auto Wheel requires little scrubbing in order to remove ingrained dirt. It's really impressive.
