AFAIK no manufacturer makes their own belts. If you're happy paying extra for a box with Ford printed on it fair enough.

Most parts aren’t made by the manufacturer. It’s like buying a spark plug from Honda, comes in a pretty box but a standard NGK plug inside for about 3 times the cost.

I don't believe so, but the garage I use rates the Gates kit with the water pump, because they come with a two year warranty. Most of the others without the pump can lead to an interesting blame game if something fails. With Gates it all rest with them. Not that expensive either.

For the OP; about the only parts of a car that the manufacturer makes themselves is the monocoque and body panels, engine block and head. This varies hugely, but for a mass produce typical family car, that is a good rule of thumb.

To be fair nowa day's noteven the engine a lot of cars uses other manufacturers engine's
Vaxual use a bunch of fiat engine's for example
Such as there 1.3 diesel

Buy a Gates, Dayco or Continental kit and I guarantee at least one of the tensioners or idlers included is an INA part. Same goes for any kit you buy from vehicle manufacturers. Any one of these 4 brands will be A ok 👍

Haha, I can vouch for that.
When I bought my caterham the previous owner had installed a DVA fettled k series engine and I noticed the gates belts poking around when it was on my bench. Small world eh thumbup

I wont use them anymore, i had an auxiliary belt tensioner fail after less than a year but ive heard other stories regarding the quality these days.
The rubber belts are probably still ok though in all seriousness.
