Do it all daily. Golf GTi PP
Discussion
Never done one of these before, so thought I'd put this up and will add a few thoughts on it.
Picking this up tomorrow to replace a 2017 Touareg that was stolen 2 weeks ago. Not a like for like replacement, but being bored of having to park across 2 spaces in Waitrose (ph director style), and the Touareg simply being too large for london run around - needed a more suitable car.
Wife still wants a larger SUV, but decided to get 2 cars so I'll run this whilst she waits to get what she wants.
Did look at a few other options, but limited by immediate availability (this was dealer stock). VW were keen to a deal on this, so decided to take the plunge - suspect wife will go for either a Q or SQ5 dependent on monthlies. After settling the finance etc on the Touareg, it cost me <10k for 30months and 22k so not terrible. Not sure the golf will come out cheaper, but I was keen to keep costs low and avoid things like luxury car tax.
Golf is fairly standard, only options are the DCC pack, tints, art velors, Atlantic Blue and the shadow line wheels (I'm a tad hom hum about those preferring the 19s but accept these may ride better).
Having had a MkV GTi and EP3 Type R both over 10years ago will be interested to be back in sonething fairly whizzy.
Toughest sell has been my 5 year old, whom thinks I should've got a Huracan. That he knows what one is, does not bode well for his 17th.
Fantastic cars. I had an Oryx white MK7 PP last year and it really was a do everything car. Worked perfectly well as the family/dog bus but was also perfectly at home on last years ring trip too (MPG was in another league to some of my cohorts cars). We changed to a new S3 this year and tbh i actually prefer the golf.

Put about 35 miles on it thus far.
Has a fair bit of ingear thrust. Easy to put on speed, really easy. Seems quite refined, although suspension is in another league of hard coming from the Touareg.
Digital dash and media integration is really good. The stereo is also pretty good for a standard fit. The touch screen is much much hetter than the prior generation VW / Audi units.
Colour is a grower I think. Its quite dark, unless sunny.

Think I’m in agreement about the wheels.
A set of genuine 19” Pretoria’s would look great- not sure the dark wheels work on such a dark car
This, in silver, would really look smart and break it up.A set of genuine 19” Pretoria’s would look great- not sure the dark wheels work on such a dark car
