Hi

My wife wants an SLC, I have seen one being sold privately on Autotrader it was first registered to MB UK Ltd Fleet, Delaware Dr Tongwell, Milton Keynes, MK15 8BA on 26/04/16 and sold to and then by MB Exeter to the current owner in Jan 2017

My question is – how much should previous Fleet ownership affect my offer price i.e. if £18,000 was a fair price for a car with two 'ordinary' previous owners how much less should I offer because of the ‘Fleet’ ownership

It makes no difference to value.

If an ordinary one is £18k, this one is £18k, absent any other issues

It will either have been a management car or a demonstrator. If the latter & it had more than about 5k miles, it will have had new OE tyres fitted all round. Bonus.

I vaguely remember delivering an SLC down there that summer.

Why would it.?
Just treat it as a two owner car,.
It may have been an ex management car, a demonstrator, it might have even been sat in a showroom.Could even have been a pool car ( doubtful as only two seats) or a press car ( think they have to tell you this).

If it had been a privte sale it could have been owned by drug dealers, crack heads who didn't pay the finance and got it reposessed, someone who did track days from day 1 to day 200. Or it could have been owned by Kate Middleton.

How do you know one of the previous 'ordinary' owners was not a street drift champion?

It makes no difference whether fleet registered or not.

Agree with the others, why would you pay less of it was a fleet car?

My old 330 was an ex-demonstrator. Didn’t bother me in the slightest.

£18,000 is a large amount to pay privately for a car.

I presume you know enough about cars to decide if it's a good one?

Or take someone with you that does?

I don't believe I do know 'enough' but the RAC do and they have 3 choices / levels and I believe (hope) the Basic £99 option should be enough.

What’s the difference 18k trade or private you’ll get much more car for your money private . Only difference is trade will have been plugged in an codes deleted

Very likely to have been run by someone working at M-B UK HQ, or one of their field team. If they are anything like VWG UK where I used to work (also in MK) the cars will be very carefully inspected upon return and any problems put right.
