DBS: Needs Several Start Attempts Before Running
Discussion
Anybody run into this particular issue? Press the ECU home, car catches and then immediately dies. Happens 2 or 3 more times; initial 'woomp' and then dead. Finally on the 4th or 5th time, the car stays running like nothing happened. This has occurred on several occasions, but not on the first start of the day. If I didn't know better, it feels like fuel starvation due to something like an old fashioned vapor lock. And no codes or any kind of dash warnings. Could it be as simple as a PATS/ECU issue that is killing the ignition?
Grateful for any suggestions.

I would suggest a fuel pump relay or pressure relief valve in the fuel rail.
Relay may be dropping out until is is warmed by a few activations or fuel rail pressure relief valve may be losing rail pressure over time requiring the pump to re-pressurize the system before it will run. Initial run could be the engine running on the cold start enrichment.
Check fuel rail pressure before you try a cold start. Its unlikely to be the pump because they normally fail completely quite quickly once messing about.
