An incredible step forward if true...

at a time when EVs are clearly marching forward with great pace (see smmt report for august eek) this will really ramp up take over next couple of years, if true that is.

They have TESTED something that COULD do that.

Hard to see how that is any more concrete than the myriad of other future battery tech which could do similar. Sounds a loooong way off.

a none issue, the current tesla batteries are showing less than 10% degradation after 100k miles and should last 500k miles, way beyond the avg life of a personal car

the problem with batteries are:

price
energy density
weight

the holy grail is to double the energy density and halve the weight for 50% of the current cost with long life (300k+ is fine) and manageable thermals especially under fast charging

he's also totally delusional about having self driving cars, at least in the EU, they still cant handle pretty basic stuff.

They claimed that their original Model S battery would last nearly a million miles, 900,000 to be exact. Real world it depends on the size, some crap out after about 120k and some will go on until the rest of the car falls apart.
