Replacing my Avensis - but with what?
Discussion
I'm in the market (mood?) for a new family car. I've had my 2012 Toyota Avensis T4 D4D for 6 and a half years and its never put a step wrong, but sometimes you get that itch for a change that you just can't shake.
I need something practical for a family of 4, we don't do a lot of miles (<10,000pa) but we do occasionally have the odd day trip with journeys in excess of 1hr-2hrs. As much as I liked the Avensis, the only thing I wasn't so keen on was the saloon boot - so I'm looking now towards a nice estate car, or one of these SUVs that everyone is driving. Open to suggestions. I guess it should feel like an 'upgrade'?
I'm looking 2ish years old with low mileage, with a cash price of in and around £17k. I'd plan to keep it for 5 years or so. Hopefully others can suggest something or have some considerations - I don't really know anything about engines sizes and trim levels etc.
What I have been looking at:
Skoda kodiaq SEL
Peugeot 5008
Audi A6 Avant
Volvo V60/V90
Thanks

These are newer cars so the new tax rates apply so they will be around £145 but yes you have a great choice, when I was looking I went for the 210 Vignale for me it had the right mix of being a decent steer/power & spec.
The Mazda came second & the Skoda third (if you want outright space go for the Skoda) but that's just my opinion, go & test drive them to see which suits you best.

I'm based in NI but will happily travel to England as the savings can be good.

Wow some great picks there, will have a look through them all. Much haggling you think?
My current car had £30pa tax so be keen to keep that ??
Make sure whatever you buy then is pre April 2017 as anything after that is £145 per annum flat rate if list was under £40k otherwise its £465 a year (I think). I bought a 66 plate A4 S Line in June and that's £20 a year, a colleague has a 67 plate one with more options than mine and has to pay £465 a year.My current car had £30pa tax so be keen to keep that ??

Anyone of them would be ideal for me to buy outright when my v90 lease deal ends or maybe even to replace the wife’s leased scirocco which goes back in February. Kid on the way so she needs something a bit more practical

The main differences are the one I listed is an auto 190 vs an AWD 150 (which will be a little worse on fuel) model, so you'd have to decide which is more important.
