Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 vs Ultrac Vorti?
Discussion
I have a Jag XE S '16 which I have a fairly long commute with but also take to the track a few times per year.
The car came with P Zeros (R20, 235/35 fronts, 265/30 rears) and I'm in need of new ones after the latest day at Llandow. To be honest, I go through tyres not too infrequently given the track time in a heavy car so I'm looking for a 'happy medium' of cheaper tyres that will do me fairly well on the track + a long commute (60 mile round trip). These P-Zeros were pretty melty after the first two 15 minute track sessions and I had to swap the fronts around to even the wear.
I know the obvious answer is the Pilot Sports 4S but I just can't justify spending 1k on tyres twice a year. With that in mind, I was considering the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Both come in at around £150 a corner.
Has anyone had any experience with these tyres? Looking at reviews the Goodyears seem better in the wet, but given this car is terrible in the wet anyway I'm tempted to get the Vorti so when I can properly drive the car I get the best grip.

If you are going to do track work, the Vorti .
However, they are quite "Heavy" tyres and did knock around 3mpg off my last car.
But they have the most track tyre feel you can get from a regular road tyre, sidewalls are stiff and very direct steering. Work well in the wet too. I have done an absolutely pissing down wet trackday on Vorti's and was the fastest car out there at the time. Good traction and breakaway. Wear was good too.

Asymmetric 2 have been replaced, the new 5’s are very decent.
Unfortunately for R20s they're basically the same price as the P4S.xjay1337 said:

Cheers for the recc. I don't really care much for mpg (its shocking in a 3L SC engine anyway). However, they are quite "Heavy" tyres and did knock around 3mpg off my last car.

Will replace the fronts with the Vorti's this weekend. I think the rears have another track session in them.
