My wifes 2010 118d has very recently picked up a couple of odd issues which may or may not be related.

The first being the remote central locking. When you close the door and get out, the car has started to lock itself. Pressing the button to unlock doesn't work but you can hear something trying to work (if that makes sense). You have to pop the key out, unlock manually and then swiftly get in to switch the alarm off. Last night I checked all the fuses and all were fine.

Today, she's reported that the airbag light is flickering. Normally I would treat these issues as exclusive but because they have happened within a day of each other I'm thinking they could be related. My thoughts are that the battery could be on it's way out, but other than that I have no idea. It went in to BMW last month for a recall which was something to do with an earth so it could be related to that.

Having looked through Google I can't seem to find any answers so thought I would throw it out to the PH brain.

Is it on its original battery?

If so, I would change that before doing anything else.

BMW have kindly updated your car so you can now take advantage of their ongoing offers to do random and expensive work on your car's electrics.

I’m not entirely sure as we’ve only had it 6 months but my thoughts are heading that way too.

I missed the earth bit, that could well cause these issues.

Say you missus said it happened from the time you picked it up, but you just drove it and noticed, she never got round to telling you.
