I've had a couple of instances recently where I've saved a number in iPhone and when I've gone to search it later it's not in contacts.

Then I dial the number manually and the name of the contact appears on the phone, so it is obviously saved.

The most recent one was a business card .vcf if that makes any difference.

Can anyone explain this please?

Is it do with the sorting you have it set to? Are the missing contacts under surname or ACME LTD?

The most recent one was Pete Edwards

I could search on Pete or Edwards and his contact did not show.

This is most likely to do with "Groups" - go in there and there will be multiple entries for iCloud, Facebook etc for where it grabs contact from. Tick them all and they will appear (probably).

Groups deals with DND and the like I think, not contacts.

Okay so the number is now showing. It’s listed under Siri found in incallservice.
